E is for Edge City, European Street, and Enrique.

E is for Edge City, European Street, and Enrique.

Edge City: Jacksonville’s chic-unique-boutique. Edge City is located in the eclectic 5 points area of Jax (take the Park Street exit off I-95.) Edgy for sure. You will experience creaking and lacquered wood flooring, vintage mirrors galore, great bags, shoes, decadent dresses, giant sunglasses, tons of sparkle, glitz, and glamour. This place is blessed with lots of Betsey Johnson and Tarina items. Supremely soft shirts. Skull bracelets. Flowing skirts. Denim. Best part about Edge City: the owners of the store. She’s a posh-and-ultra-glamista icon: fuchsia hair, big sparkles, baubles, and sweet. She's completely glam fabulous. He’s tall-n-gentlemanly-quiet and helpful. They both have extraordinary accents. Extremely glamorous shopping experience. You’ll want to walk out carrying their light pink and silver Edge city bag filled with your goodies. Price: $$-$$$ (KEEP THIS KEY HANDY FOR FUTURE BLOGETTS): $: 30.00 and under, $$: 30.00-100.00, $$$: 100.00(+)

European Street: Located @ Beach Blvd, Riverside, and San Marco in Jax. Happy hour is 2 for 1 till 7:00. Remember the 3 B’s here: Brats, Beer, and Boursin. Try the German potato salad. And the soft pretzel sticks with Boursin cheese. Completely delicious. They have a huge assortment of imported beers and wines to take home. The cookies are droolworthy. Best cookies are white chocolate raspberry, snickerdoodle, peanut butter, and key lime. SKIP: the sangria. MUST DO: Kenny’s liquorices in the candy area. Get them in watermelon, strawberry, and pina colada flavored. $-$$.

Enrique:
New CD. "Euphoria" is euphoric. The best song is “Heartbeat” with Nicole from Pussycats...so saucy. Dance dance bailamous with Enrique and Usher to “Dirty Dancer.” Gotta get the CD since Limewire officially bit the dust. Insert disk, volume up. Caliente pantelones.
Until next time…Me + Enrique = dance y amor.

D is for Diorshow, Dollar Tree, and Donut Shoppe.

Diorshow: Diorshow Mascara by Christian Dior is the very best luxury mascara for your lovely lashes. Dramatic, dark, and devious. Volume. Volume. Volume. Apply to lower lashes first. Follow with top lashes. 2 coats and zero clumps. Beauty comes at a price. This lovely little makeup jem will cost about $25.00 a tube. Worth it. Get it at Sephora in the color “Nior.” Dior. Nior. Superior.

Dollar Tree: Do you need a hammer? How about wrapping paper? Salt & Pepper? Dish soap? A Bible? Stickers? Bubble gum? Glow sticks? Dog treats? Marbles for a fish tank? Blue toilet bowl freshners? Religious candles? Frozen mozzarella sticks? Tupperware? Birthday balloons? Random ceramics to decorate your casa? Granny Panties? Welcome to the land of “I didn’t know I needed this but I'll get it since it is $1.00.” Happens to be one of the coolest places on earth. You can roam each aisle 17 times and you still might miss something. I am particularly fond of the candy aisle this time of the year. You know all those little trick-or-treating goblins love to have a heaping handful of generic candy thrown in their bags. After all, it’s just a dollar. Love. This. Place.

Donut Shoppe: Listen up. Take I-95 to University. Dis place is somewhere in between the Hookah-Bar-Pool-Hall(?!) and Jacksonville University. And it is fantastic. Bought a dozen fresh ones here with the coolest G-acksonville local. Original glazed, coconut cakez, fresh uglies, and chocolate fat monsters. It's just ridiculously good. Another hidden spot in Jacksonville. No more particulars on this one. I want the donuts to myself so you'll have to hunt to find it. Worth. The. Fatness.

Till next time...I'll be applying gobs of Dior mascara and running off those damn donuts.

C is for Coffee, Crest Whitestrips, and Chowder Ted’s.

C is for Coffee, Crest Whitestrips, and Chowder Ted’s.

Coffee: Good morning and good for you. Usually takes me 2 cups minimum to get a heart rate when I wake up. Coffee is full of antioxidants and also revs up your metabolism. Woot! My two favorite kinds of coffee are Dynamite’s “Ethiopia” and Fresh Market’s “Coconut Cupcake.” Dynamite Roasting Company has phenomenal coffee developed by some former musician gents in Asheville, NC. It is certified organic by Clemson University, and can be ordered online at
http://www.dynamiteroasting.com/ As for the Coconut Cupcake, enough said. Available at Fresh Market and reasonably priced. PS: Fresh Market coffee is close to their candy aisle. I was dying to include candy in my blogette…Fresh Market has tons of good candy...like those sour valentine lips and yummy gummy worms. Grab somma dat, too.

Crest Whitestrips: All this talk about coffee and candy brings us to teeth. Brush after coffee, scrape the tongue, and double gargle to get rid of your rancid breath. Then, once a week or whenever those stains start creeping on your teef, use CREST WHITESTRIPS. I swear by them. They are about $24.00 now and last for as long as whenever you use them up. Crest tells you use them in a 2 week period. They’ll make your teeth ultra sensitive if you do that. I say a couple of times a week when you first bleach them and then as desired for maintenance. Downside: the strips don’t cover all of your teeth so you’ll have a few in the back that are still muddled yellows. Upside: cheap and effective for most your visible pearls. PS2: I just used them while I typed this portion. About 15-20 minutes is all you’ll need to avoid sensitivity.

Chowder Ted’s: You probably have to be a Jacksonville local to know about this place. Thanks to Garrett, I had the pleasure this week of having a Michelob Ultra, conch fritters, and a heaping bowl of Ted’s chowder for lunch. The chowder is tomato based, not creamy. Large chunks of fresh fish, carrots, red potatoes, and shrimp swim in the delicous broth. It is served in an actual stainless steel pot from the stove. Amazing. You must try this place. Located on Heckscher on the left hand side if you are heading towards Fernandina. To be specific: 5215 Heckscher Dr. You’ll probably need to use the Garmin for this one so you don’t miss it. It is nestled by the water--almost under a bridge--with a great view. The people are SO VERY nice that work at the establishment.

PS3: one more "C." Thanks, Cayce, for reading!

Till next time, I’ll be on the road, in the air, in an interview, or somewhere other than sitting still.

B is for Barbie, Banana Bliss, and Beer.

Barbie: So, I’m walking through Target the other day, jibbing (I thought I made it up but that is actually a word) away on my blackberry and I stumbled into the toys section. I discovered the most gorgeous Barbies I have ever seen in my life. I immediately wished I had a daughter or at least a reason to be standing in the aisle slurping up my drool over these beings. First of all, they wear a classic little black dress. They are sophisticated and sleek. Unlike traditional Barbs, these have numbers instead of names. Ironic/Sexist?! Anyway, I thumb through all the babes lined up and realized that one looks like my friend, Elizabeth Peters. (Shout out!) But seriously, these Barbies need to be bought. Now. If you have a kid, go get one. Heck, I’ll buy it for you. Just as long as I can play with her first! Check out the pic to the side. Remaining shouts: Barbie #3 is Sarah Zoraster, #5 is Jess Rivera, #2 is Kelly Logan, #11 is Elizabeth (Erin) Peters, #6 is Trish Boyce, and #12 is Jen Hollifield.

PS: They also have a “My Favorites” Collection. I located a ‘85 Peaches & Cream and Barbie & the Rockers edition! Okay, I have to stop writing about them now so I don’t seem freakish.

Banana Bliss: This is the name of yummiest best soap I’ve ever smelled. The full name is Banana Bliss Shower Smoothie by ULTA. You will smell like Miss Chiquita. Makes you want to curse your brains out so you will be told to go and eat soap for punishment. It is THAT GOOD. And 20 minutes after you shower, you’ll walk by the bathroom and still be smelling the tropical goodness. Sneak into ULTA, take a sniff, and then pull out your wallet. Thanks, Julia England, for my Banana Bliss! I love it. Can you tell?

Beer: It’s good for the bones! Really. The silicon in beer is a possible bone builder. Go with the pale ales. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2010/02/100208091922.htm
I traditionally go for Miller Lite. Miller Lite shout out! Woop.

Till next time…I will NOT be poolside. Had to shock the pool today because of mustard algae. Hence, a new posting.

A is for…Awesome, Angels & Airwaves, and August.

A is for…Awesome, Angels & Airwaves, and August.

Awesome: As in, being awesome. Are you doing this? You should be. Embrace your fabulous flaws. Be who you are. Don’t make excuses. Pee your pants laughing. Look for the best or at least hope for it. Accept the fact that sometimes, things just suck. Surround yourself with people that bring out the best in you. Know what you like and don’t. Make your own rulez. Be honest, be you, and be awesome.

Angels & Airwaves: Okay, the lead singer from Blink 182, the-oh-so-pretty-lip-ringed-Tom-DeLonge, has jumped into an even better band. The band is NOT NEW: they are overlooked. Check them out. I heavily recommend you listen to their song, “The Adventure.” Good lyric inside: “I want to have the same last dream again, the one where I wake up and I’m alive.” Uh, it’s actually an upbeat song. Trust me & just go listen to them already. http://www.myspace.com/angelsandairwaves/music/albums/we-don-t-need-to-whisper-4902

August: Hot, hot, and hot. Did I mention it is HOT? Good news, FALL is on the way. Use the last few days of the month to think about the fact that a new season is approaching. A new season in life? Think about what you want to be doing. If you aren’t already doing it, then take action! Soak up the rest of summer with a drink in hand(s) and a smile on your face. I think that brings us back to being awesome.

I’ll be poolside until the next blogette.
